Which format should you choose?
JPG is the most widely supported format and the safe choice for photos you need to upload anywhere. PNG is lossless and supports transparency, making it best for logos, icons and screenshots. WebP offers smaller files than JPG at similar quality and supports transparency, and is supported by all modern browsers — ideal for websites.
Things to know when converting
Converting a transparent PNG to JPG fills the transparent areas with a solid background, because JPG cannot store transparency. Converting a JPG to PNG will not restore detail lost to earlier compression; it usually just makes the file bigger.
Converted files are re-encoded, so photo metadata such as camera details and GPS location is generally not kept — a privacy bonus if you are sharing pictures publicly.
How your files stay private
Most online converters upload your file to a server, process it there and send it back. all in tool works differently: the processing code is downloaded to your browser and runs on your own device. Your file is read from your disk into memory, transformed, and handed back to you as a download. It is never sent over the network, so there is nothing for us — or anyone else — to store, read or leak.
You can confirm this yourself: once the page has loaded, you can disconnect from the internet and the tool keeps working. This also means speed depends on your device rather than your connection, which is usually much faster for large files.
