  2. 2Set the start and end time and preview it.
  3. 3Download as MP3 or WAV.

Step by step: trimming audio

Choose an audio file and it will load into the player. Play it to find the part you want, then drag the two handles on the slider to set the start and end. The length of your selection is shown between them. Pick MP3 or WAV and click Trim audio, then preview the clip before downloading.

Common uses

Trimming is perfect for making ringtones and notification sounds, cutting the silence or chatter from the start and end of a recording, extracting one answer from an interview, or shortening a song to fit a video or presentation.

Quality tips and limitations

The slider moves in steps of a tenth of a second. For a precise cut, trim slightly wider than you need, listen to the result, and run it again on the trimmed file if necessary. Choose WAV if you plan to edit the clip further, since each MP3 save loses a little quality; choose MP3 when you just want a small file to share.

The tool cuts sharply without fading in or out, so a cut in the middle of a loud sound may produce a small click. Starting and ending in a quiet moment avoids this. Very long recordings use a lot of memory because the whole file is decoded on your device; on phones, files under an hour work most reliably.

How your files stay private

Most online converters upload your file to a server, process it there and send it back. all in tool works differently: the processing code is downloaded to your browser and runs on your own device. Your file is read from your disk into memory, transformed, and handed back to you as a download. It is never sent over the network, so there is nothing for us — or anyone else — to store, read or leak.

You can confirm this yourself: once the page has loaded, you can disconnect from the internet and the tool keeps working. This also means speed depends on your device rather than your connection, which is usually much faster for large files.
