Why extract a ZIP in the browser?
Most computers can open ZIP files, but not all situations are equal. Phones and tablets sometimes struggle with archives, work computers may block archive software, and sometimes you only need one file out of a large archive — not the whole thing extracted to your disk. Opening the ZIP here lets you look inside first and download only what you actually need.
It's also a safe way to inspect an archive from someone you don't fully trust. Because the archive is only read — never executed — you can check the file list and preview images and documents before deciding whether to save anything.
Previewing before you download
Image files (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, SVG and more) open as a picture preview right in the list, so you can confirm a photo is the right one before saving it. Text-based files — TXT, CSV, JSON, Markdown, logs and similar — open as readable text, which is handy for checking a report or data export without downloading it first.
Other file types can't be previewed in the browser, but you can still download them individually and open them with the right app. Each file comes out exactly as it went in — ZIP compression is lossless, so nothing is altered.
Limitations and troubleshooting
Only ZIP archives are supported. RAR, 7z and tar.gz files use different compression methods that browsers can't reliably decode, so those need a desktop tool such as 7-Zip. Password-protected ZIPs can't be opened here either — encryption requires the archive tools built into your computer.
Very large archives are read into memory, so they work best on a desktop browser. If an archive fails to open, close other tabs and try again, or extract it on your computer. When downloading many files, your browser may ask for permission to save multiple files — that's a normal safety prompt, not an error.
How your files stay private
Most online converters upload your file to a server, process it there and send it back. all in tool works differently: the processing code is downloaded to your browser and runs on your own device. Your file is read from your disk into memory, transformed, and handed back to you as a download. It is never sent over the network, so there is nothing for us — or anyone else — to store, read or leak.
You can confirm this yourself: once the page has loaded, you can disconnect from the internet and the tool keeps working. This also means speed depends on your device rather than your connection, which is usually much faster for large files.
