When a ZIP archive is the right tool
ZIP is the universal way to bundle many files into one. Email attachments, upload forms and messaging apps often limit how many files you can send at once — packing everything into a single ZIP turns twenty photos or a folder of documents into one tidy attachment. It's also the format most websites, app stores and government portals expect when they ask for "a compressed archive".
Because ZIP is built into Windows, macOS and every phone's Files app, the person receiving your archive never needs extra software to open it. That makes it the safest choice when you don't know what device or technical skill the recipient has.
Choosing a compression level
Balanced is the right starting point for almost everything: it shrinks documents, spreadsheets and text substantially while staying fast. Choose Fast when you're archiving many large files and speed matters more than the last few percent of savings. Maximum squeezes a little harder but can take noticeably longer on big files, and the extra savings are often small.
Choose No compression when your files are already compressed — JPEG photos, MP3s, MP4 videos and most PDFs barely shrink, and skipping compression makes the archive much faster to create. No compression is also the right pick when you only want to bundle files together, not shrink them.
What ZIP can and can't do
ZIP compression is lossless: extracting the archive gives back the exact original files, byte for byte. Nothing is converted or re-encoded, so quality is never affected. If two files share a name, both are kept — the second gets a numbered suffix so nothing is overwritten.
Very large selections can exceed your device's memory, especially on phones. If creation fails, split the files into two smaller archives, choose Fast or No compression, and keep the tab open until the download starts. This tool creates archives; to open one you received, use Extract ZIP Online.
How your files stay private
Most online converters upload your file to a server, process it there and send it back. all in tool works differently: the processing code is downloaded to your browser and runs on your own device. Your file is read from your disk into memory, transformed, and handed back to you as a download. It is never sent over the network, so there is nothing for us — or anyone else — to store, read or leak.
You can confirm this yourself: once the page has loaded, you can disconnect from the internet and the tool keeps working. This also means speed depends on your device rather than your connection, which is usually much faster for large files.
